Karnataka assembly elections 2018: Polling to be held on May 10

Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar gave information in this regard on Wednesday. He said that voting will be done in one phase. Karnataka has 5.21 crore voters, who will vote in 224 assembly seats. Rajiv Kumar said that those who will be 18 years old on April 1 will also be able to vote. For this, we have ordered an advance application. The term of the current BJP government in Karnataka ends on May 24. This time the fight will be between BJP, Congress and JDS. Last time JDS-Congress was together, but this time JDS will contest separately.

At the same time, the Election Commission has also announced by-elections to 5 assembly seats in 4 states. Election to Wayanad seat, which fell vacant after Rahul Gandhi’s cancellation of his Parliament membership, has not been announced. When asked about this, Rajiv Kumar said that there is a time of 6 months to conduct elections on vacant seats. The trial court has given Rahul Gandhi 30 days to file an appeal in the higher court. So now we will wait.
