Union Home Minister Amit Shah is trying to resolve the border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra. The chief ministers of the two states are scheduled to meet on Wednesday with Amit Shah. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has issued notices to 11 villages in Akkalkot district. In this notice, he has been asked to explain why he passed a resolution for merger with Karnataka.

Ten of these 11 villages have already conveyed to the state government that they have cancelled their proposals and want to stay with Maharashtra.

Let us tell you that the border dispute between the two states is decades old. Ever since the States Reorganisation Act came into existence in 1956 after being passed by Parliament, the two states have been demanding the inclusion of some villages in their borders on the basis of language. The two states are at odds over the boundary between Belagavi, Khanapur, Nippani, Nandgaon and Karwar.

Belagavi is the most discussed in this controversy. The latest controversy is also over the claim on Belagavi, due to which the border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka increased further on Tuesday. Vehicles belonging to each other were targeted within the border area of the two states. Assembly elections are due in Karnataka. In such a situation, the central government also wants that this issue should be calmed down in some way.
