Published on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his lengthiest Independence Day speech to date, lasting 98 minutes at the Red Fort. This marks his 11th consecutive address from this iconic location, putting him behind only Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi in this achievement. Modi’s speeches on Independence Day typically average around 82 minutes, making them the longest in Indian Prime Ministerial history. Among his past speeches, his shortest was in 2017 at 56 minutes, while his longest before this year was in 2019 at 92 minutes.

Other notable Prime Ministers with brief Independence Day speeches include Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who gave addresses as short as 25 to 35 minutes.
