Rumours circulating online about the sale of Karachi Airport for $1.8 billion have been dismissed by Pakistan’s CAA

Claims circulating on social media that Jinnah International Airport in Karachi was sold for USD 1.8 million were refuted by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Despite social media claims of a secret deal, a CAA spokesperson dismissed the rumours as false and baseless, confirming that the Karachi airport remains under CAA administration. Named after Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the airport, established in 1924, is one of the world’s oldest. The Ministry of Aviation in Pakistan decided to outsource management of major airports, including Jinnah International Karachi Airport, to enhance services with international standards through foreign direct investment. The ownership of the airports, however, will remain with the CAA.
