According to local media reports, two current ministers in the Maldives have been arrested by police on suspicion of practising black magic against President Mohamed Muizzu. Shamnaz Saleem, a former state minister at the Environment Ministry, her ex-husband Adam Rameez, who was a minister at the President’s Office, and two others were taken into custody. The police have not disclosed the reasons behind the arrests or the alleged black magic activity. Shamnaz and others have been remanded in custody for seven days, and both she and Rameez have been suspended from their positions in the government. It is worth noting that both Shamnaz have previously worked with President Muizzu during his time as the mayor of Male City.
