Eight people were killed and 17 others injured in a fire at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram on Wednesday, police said. According to the information, the injured have been admitted to the hospital. According to reports, several fire engines are trying to control the fire. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. According to media reports, 25 people were working in the factory. The entire building of the factory collapsed due to the explosion. The fire service team and the district police are engaged in the rescue operation.
This is the second incident of death in a fire at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu in a week. Earlier on Thursday, two people were killed and one person was injured in a fire in a firecracker factory in Dharmapuri of the state. Chief Minister M K Stalin had announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
