A major accident took place on the Pune-Nashik highway in Maharashtra late on Monday night. Here an SUV ran over 17 women. Of these, 5 women died while 12 women were seriously injured, who have been admitted to the hospital. The incident took place near Shiroli village, about 50 km from Pune city. Police have reached the spot and started investigation.

It is being told that after the accident, two women died on the spot while three women died during treatment. According to the information, the car driver is absconding. The police have registered a case and are looking for the accused.

According to the information, all these women do kitchen work. She was returning home after finishing her work from the program at around 11 pm on Monday night. All the women had landed at Kharpudi Phata from a Pune bus. Meanwhile, while crossing the road, a speeding SUV coming from Pune hit the women. Two people died on the spot and others were injured. Passersby rushed all of them to the hospital where three women also succumbed to their injuries. 12 women injured in the accident are undergoing treatment.
